Best Places to Elope in Squamish

4 Epic Locations for Your Squamish Elopement

As you drive along the sea to sky highway you are encountered with the most breathtaking view of the quaint mountain town of Squamish, BC. Where the sea meets the sky, you’ll find countless hidden beaches, massive old growth trees and endless moss covered trails for your BC elopement.

There are so many incredible places to visit in BC. While I work closely with each of my couples to find unique and remote locations for their Squamish elopement, here are a few of my favourite places to get married in Squamish BC.

Sea to Sky Gondola Squamish

A 10-minute ride to the top of the gondola and you’re met with an exceptional view as you overlook Howe Sound with the ocean inlet wrapped around the coastline. There is no better place for a Squamish elopement. The gondola offers beautiful alpine vistas and makes a great base start for a backcountry hike.

Since the Sea to Sky Gondola has a one bride policy, you’ll have to contact them for available dates and to learn more about their wedding and elopement fees.

Tantalus Provincial Park | Helicopter Elopement BC

The Tantalus Mountains is range located in Squamish that has an elevation gain of 2,603 m and requires mountaineering skills to traverse. However the mountain range can be easily accessed by Blacktusk Helicopter in a short period of time and sets the stage for a spectacular BC helicopter elopement or micro wedding. If helicopter elopements aren’t your thing, there are plenty of locations within the town of Squamish that will give you a spectacular view of the Tantalus Range.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park

Escape to the coast.

Located only 20 minutes south of Squamish. The beautiful rocky beaches, stunning mountain landscape and easy access to the ocean means this location will check everything off on your elopement checklist. Consider using this location on the shoulder season to have a more private ceremony. At certain times of the year Orca whales can be spotting from the shore and throughout the year you’ll have opportunities to see otters, eagles and a pretty spectacular sunset. Porteau Cove gives you the best of the coastline and a beautiful ceremony backdrop for your Squamish elopement. The Cove allows micro weddings and elopements but you’ll have to contact the Park’s supervisor for information on permits.

The Stawamus Chief Provincial Park

The Stawamus Chief Mountain or “Chief” is a granite dome located about 15 minutes away from downtown Squamish. It has an elevation of 2297 ft and stands over 700 m tall. The mountain attracts thousands of rock climbers and hikers from all over the world each year and has become a sort of mascot for the local town. Originally named by the Squamish indigenous people from this area, it is considered to be a place of spiritual significance. There are a number of ways to incorporate the Stawamus Chief in your BC elopement. Hike to one of the three peaks of the mountain and over look the ocean or choose from my local walk-in locations in town that allows an epic view of this iconic mountain backdrop.

Things to consider for a Squamish Elopement

Privacy

Squamish used to be considered a one stop shop for tourists on the way to Whistler. Now it's considered one of Canada’s top places to visit. The small town charm and outdoor recreation brings thousands of people to our town each year. In popular locations, privacy can be hard to come by, but there’s a reason these areas are popular and you shouldn’t miss out just because of crowds. So consider eloping during the shoulder season or on a weekday.

I have a number of local areas that boast the same views with little to no tourists. When you book with me I’ll help you devise a plan that aligns with your dream vision for your elopement.

Weather

Squamish is on the west coast of Canada and while beautiful, weather is something to consider when planning your elopement. If warm weather is your priority I would suggest planning your elopement between July - September. These months are also recommended for a BC helicopter elopement. Fall is also a beautiful time of year in Squamish and sees less crowds. The leaves are changing and the eagles are beginning to return for the winter. While weather can be somewhat unpredictable here on the West coast, some say that’s what makes the coast so wild and beautiful.

Permits

Every provincial park and national park in BC is a bit different which means their permit process is too. Be sure to research and have the proper paperwork for your elopement location.

While the options for eloping in Squamish seem endless. For are more laid back approach, choose from any of my local locations that are off the tourist track. From hidden beaches, old growth forests and secret waterfalls, I’d love to be your tour guide.

-No permit required.
