Why You Should Have an Engagement Session Before Your Wedding Day

The best part of being a wedding photographer is watching you connect and laugh with each other. I catch myself with the biggest grin on my face while my eye is pressed to my viewfinder watching your story unfurl. Here’s 6 reasons why you should have an engagement session before your wedding day and why I include a complimentary session for my couples.

1. Working Together Before Your Wedding Day

Having an engagement session before your wedding day gives us an opportunity to work together. You get to experience how I direct before your wedding day and get a taste of what to expect. Engagement photos are fun, easy going and couples leave with some great new memories.

2. Guest Signing Book

Reason number two to take engagement photos is to use them as decor for your wedding. A beautiful guest signing book for your guests or print your photos and use them as decor around your venue and tables capes.

Here’s a link to one of my favourite printing companies for wedding guest books.

3. Wedding Invitations

Engagement photos can also be used for wedding invitations or save the dates. Showcase your photos for your guests and get them excited for your big day!

4. Explore New Locations

Your engagement photos don’t need to be taken in Whistler. When you book your wedding package with me I will send you a Location Guide. This guide highlights 10 of my favourite locations in the Sea to Sky Corridor. I also love to shoot in Vancouver or explore a new location with you!

5. Add a Little You in There

Engagement sessions are a great opportunity to add a little you in there. Involve something that’s meaningful to your relationship. I’ve had couples bring their dogs, special family heirlooms, keepsakes from their homeland or meaningful jewelry. The options are endless and its a great time to showcase those special details that you may not have time to share at your wedding.

6. Involve A Meaningful Experience

Finally, your engagement photos can involve a meaningful experience with your partner. Maybe there’s a special café you both love to go to or your first date location. Maybe there’s a hike you enjoy doing or going to the art gallery. When we plan your engagement session, anything is possible.
