Here’s a bit of history on the Hyroft Manor:
Located on McRae Avenue near Granville and 16th in Vancouver's exclusive Shaughnessy neighbourhood, Hycroft was built in 1909 for $109,000 by Brigadier General Alexander Duncan McRae. The grand mansion contains thirty rooms set on five and a half acres of land - complete with a pool, coach house and bowling alley. Subsequently, due to the cost of maintenance, the property was donated to the government in 1942 and eventually taken over by the University Women’s Club in 1962 who remain occupants of the impressive estate to this day.
